"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past (or present). Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. J.F.K.
My husband, Keith reconnected with a friend from Curtis Institute of Music this past year. He and Ruth had not been in touch for over 25 years. They discussed the possibility of getting together someday for a concert. Ruth, a very accomplished pianist would accompany Keith and perform a varied venue. Ruth and Keith began to make things happen . "Hmmm"...I thought "should I be worried?" A woman I don't even know coming to stay at our home and working on a concert with Keith ? (How strange).
The concert did happen. A benefit concert took place last month at The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd. Ruth arrived after a long trip from California (at her own expense) and met me at my real estate office in Hayesville. Within an hour, I could see she was a very special, beautiful woman. Ruth has a uniquely positive, loving attitude toward everything and everyone with a big heart and smile to match. An angel sent to bring a smile, to energize, to change our lives forever, Ruth demonstrates the love and passion for life that we are intended to have. On the day prior to the concert as the three of us climbed to the top of a nearby mountain, the skies opened up not only with a torrential downpour, but thunder and lightning as well9 (not to mention wind gusts).. Rather than fear or complaints, Ruth threw her arms up with joy and laughter and when we arrived at the top we were greeted with an incredible rainbow. It is up to us to to Ruth's love and passion for everything and everyone can have a ripple effect upon the world. It is up to us to toss the first pebbles and create the ripples. If you have never seen the movie (with Kevin Spacey) "Pay it Forward", you need to rent it to fully understand my request. I am often accused of being a "Pollyanna", but do me a favor and give this a try. We are all here for a purpose. Let's use our purpose to change the world one person at a time (starting with ourselves). You need to do a really big favor for three other people-a life-changing favor that is something that they would not be able to do for themselves. Something that is unexpected and where there is nothing in it for ourselves. with no chance of personal reward or recognition. In addition to those big favors, strive for three small favors a day. Hold a door open, write a note, or simply give someone a heartfelt, genuine smile and hello. Have fun and be the person you want to see the world become. Thank you Ruth for sharing your goodness and passion. Enjoy yourselves and have fun with your assignments:) Suzy C Today be the person you would like to see the world become. Do something unexpectedly wonderful for somebody and put a smile on their face.
